Latinas in Tech is a nonprofit organization that began with modest roots. What started as the desire of two friends seeking professional support has evolved into a multinational community of more than 27,000 Latina women, with a presence in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Their mission is ambitious: to reshape the tech industry so that Latina women are not only well-represented but truly thrive in the ecosystem.
In 2020, during the pandemic, the Latinas in Tech Canada chapter was established. Since then, the community has worked tirelessly to create a supportive space for Latina women seeking to advance their careers, connect with peers, and build professional networks in the tech world. Latinas in Tech Canada has a presence in Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa, with plans to expand toward the West Coast in the future.
The organization’s mission is to provide the resources, opportunities, and community that Latinas need to thrive, innovate, and lead in technology. Its vision is a tech industry in which Latinas are well-represented at every level of the ecosystem, empowered to become innovators and leaders.
In 2023 and 2024, Latinas in Tech has organized corporate events with major tech companies including Airbnb, Slalom, BNP Paribas, McGill University, Coursera, SAP, and Assent. The community also hosts virtual events covering topics such as effective job search tools, career transitions into tech, and empowering women in leadership positions.
With more than 27,000 email subscribers, 14,000 registered members, 26 nationalities represented, 200+ tech companies involved, and 23 active chapters worldwide, Latinas in Tech is a powerful example of what community and collaboration can achieve. Its extensive network of allies includes ALPFA, Entrust, Maltem, Deloitte, Intuit, Global STEM Women, Techaide, and many others committed to diversity and inclusion in technology.
